Our Lady “de la Ermitana” church is a hermitage located next to the Castle and in front of the parade ground of the fortress. The image of the Virgin was brought to Peñíscola by the apostle Santiago himself. After the Reconquest it was recovered and returned to its chapel. His first documentary news dates from 1935.
